Preparing for a speed run

Okay, so you want to become fast in a game.  Do you generally take it level by level, and only move on to practicing the next until you have mastered the previous?  How do you go about training?  (Yes I am new) ;)

Are you trying to do a continuous run of a whole game (SDA-style) or just get each individual level for a high TSC ranking?

I suppose just a single level.  What would be the stratigy for an entire game?

Well, first up, I'd practice every level, one after the other till I got a good time in each. Then I'd make sure I could remember all my routes and set target times (Higher than the times you have, to allow for errors in a continuous run), and then I'd record it :o
Did you not think I had a mind?

That's what I basically did

It probably also depends on the game you want to speedrun, since some are harder then others.

What game do you want to get better at? I can give you some tips and tricks :o

All I ask in return is a check for $50 to me :D

With S3K, I basically did my own speedruns of every zone. I did this for a few runs, mentally noting anything that worked (or didn't) each act. Once I found one I was decent at, I started concentrating on it. That's basically how I got the MH2 Knux record.

I'd also advise looking at the vids that work; they help.
<Tails> also "GET BLUE SPHERES" on a black-and-white TV remains the best special stage of all time

<Achlys> wat ave you done!
